Music director Robin Ghosh was born on September 13, 1939, in Baghdad, Iraq. His father was a Christian, and his mother was an Arab woman. From an early age, Robin Ghosh had a passion for listening to music and collecting records. This love for music led him to join Radio Dhaka as a musician. Robin Ghosh began his film career with the Bengali film “Rajdhani”. In 1962, when director Ehtesham made his first Urdu film “Chanda”, he also chose Robin Ghosh to compose its music.

 Some of his other films made in East Pakistan include “Talaash”, “Paise”, “Bandhan”, “Karwan”, “Begana”, “Bhaiya”, “Chakori”, “Tum Mere Ho”, and “Daagh” (one song). Later, through the editor of Nigar, the late Ilyas Rashid, he and his wife, actress Shabnam, were invited by Waheed Murad to Karachi. The couple then began their successful film careers in Karachi.

 Among the films in West Pakistan for which Robin Ghosh composed music are “Jahan Tum Wahan Hum”, “Ehsaas”, “Chahat”, “Sharafat”, “Bhool”, “Miss Hippie”, “Umeed”, “Do Saathi”, “Mom Ki Guriya”, “Anokhi”, “Jio Aur Jeene Do”, “Anmol Mohabbat”, “Aina”, “Ambar”, “Nahin Abhi Nahin”, “Bandish”, “Kiran Aur Kali”, “Aahat”, “Do Phool Do Badan”, “Dooriyan”, “Hum Aur Tum”, “Love in Nepal”, “Sheesh Nagin”, “Ranjish”, and “Jo Darr Gaya Woh Mar Gaya”, among others.

 He passed away on February 13, 2016, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
