Nirala the Comedian

Nirala's real name was Syed Mozaffar Hussain Zaidi. He was originally a stage actor from Karachi. Born on August 8, 1937, he began his film career with the 1960 film “Aur Bhi Gham Hain”, directed by A.H. Siddiqui. In Pakistan's first Urdu platinum film “Armaan”, Nirala's comedic role was so memorable that he received praise from audiences and critics alike. He earned the Nigar Award for Best Comedian for this performance. Nirala appeared in over a hundred films, many of which were huge hits, and his acting is remembered as both unforgettable and iconic. He won over cinema lovers with his comedic roles in successful films like “Sparan”, “Mr. X”, “Shararat”, “Chhoti Behna”, “Heera Aur Patthar”, “Armaan”, “Ehsaan”, “Doraaha”, “Zameen Ka Chaand”, “Insaan Aur Gadha”, “Jahan Tum Wahan Hum”, and “Naseeb Apna Apna”. His final film was “Choron Ka Badshah”. Nirala passed away on August 9, 1990, and he is buried in a Karachi cemetery.

 In terms of editing, Karachi has produced notable editors such as Iqbal Akhtar, M. Aqeel Khan, A. Saeed, Maqsood Hussain, Inam-ul-Haq, Uncle Nadeem, Hamid Qazi, Hasanain, and Shahid Rizvi. In dance direction, names like Hamid Chaudhry and Dev Kumar are also from Karachi. For sound recording, Karachi has produced distinguished professionals like Iqbal Shehzad, Mashkoor Qadri, Hashim Qureshi, Hassan Zia, Rafat Qureshi, Hanif Afghani, Ismail Gilani, Abdul Sattar, Sahibzada Ayaz, Hamid Hussain, and Khalid Bin Soz. In songwriting, Karachi poets such as Humayun Ali Sharar, Sarwar Barah Bankvi, Masroor Anwar, Kaleem Osmani, Younus Hamdam, and Faiz Hashmi are particularly noteworthy. Among singers, besides those previously mentioned, A. Nair, S.B. Jun, Rubina Badr, Iron Parveen, Nighat Akbar, Madhu Almas, Nighat Seema, Nighat Yasmin, Ishrat Jahan, Bilquis Khatoon, and Rajab Ali are all from Karachi. Karachi has also been a leading city in the field of photography, with skilled photographers like Jafar Bukhari, Riaz Bukhari, Nazir Hussain, Madad Ali Madan, M. Hussain, Jan Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Shaukat Abbas, Shafon Mirza, Afzal Chaudhry, A.R. Nasser, M. Ayub, Sohail Hashmi, and Ghulam Muhammad Saeed Rizvi among its notable talents.
