Izhar Qazi
Born on September 16, 1957, in the Khadda Market area of
Karachi, Izhar Qazi was a well-known Pakistani actor and singer. He completed
his matriculation from Haji Abdullah Haroon Secondary School with distinction
and graduated from S.M. College, Karachi, securing first position. He then
completed his Master's degree in Economics from Karachi University with first
division and also passed his LLB from S.M. Law College, Karachi, with honors.
In search of employment, he eventually joined Pakistan Steel Mills, where he
worked as an administrative manager.
During a wedding ceremony, the famous TV writer Fatima
Surayya Bajia (late) discovered him and saw a new hero in his looks. She called
him for an audition, which led to his entry into television. After appearing in
a few short plays, it was the drama serial “Anaa” that truly shot him to fame.
In this serial, his co-star was Mehreen Ilahi.
In 1985, filmmaker and director Nazar Shabab cast him as the
lead hero in his film “Ruby”. This film completed its golden jubilee and proved
successful in the film industry as well. Over his career, Izhar Qazi appeared
in 87 films, including 30 in Urdu, 26 in Punjabi, and 3 in Pashto. His last
film, “Asia Kay Tiger”, remained incomplete due to his untimely death.
Izhar Qazi's notable television dramas include “Anaa”, “Daira”,
“Gardish”, “Zakham”, “Gunehgar”, and “Pani Pe Naam”. Among his memorable films
were “Ruby”, “Bangkok Ke Chor”, “Love in Nepal”, “Manila Ki Bijliyan”, “Dulari”,
“Himmatwala”, “Najaat”, “Choron Ka Badshah”, “Mera Insaaf”, “Baghi Haseena”, “Noori”,
“Rakhwala”, “Manila Ke Janbaaz”, “Insaniyat Ke Dushman”, “Barish”, “Leader”, “Alami
Jasoos”, “Chiragh”, “Bali”, “Teen Yakay Teen Chakkay”, “Watan Ke Rakhwalay”, “Hero”,
“Hijrat”, “Jannat”, “Zamani”, “Khazana”, “Golden Girl”, “Oulad Ki Qasam”, and “King
Maker”.
The famous actor of Pakistan Television and the film
industry passed away on December 24, 2007.
