began his acting career with his debut film “Beli” in 1950 and quickly captured
the audience's attention with his breakthrough role in “2 Aansoo”, also
released the same year.
Born Syed Musa Raza on December 25, 1926, in Lahore, Santosh
Kumar was an accomplished graduate of Usmania University in Hyderabad, Deccan.
His early foray into Indian cinema included roles in “Ahinsa” (1947) and “Meri
Kahani” (1949), which paved the way for his transition to Pakistani films.
Santosh Kumar's career was marked by his exceptional
versatility and charisma. He became known for his dynamic roles and contributed
significantly to the golden era of Pakistani cinema. His enduring legacy is
reflected in his impressive body of work and his influence on subsequent
generations of actors.
He was married to the renowned actress Sabiha Khanum, and
his brothers—Darpan, S. Suleman, and Mansoor—were also influential figures in
the film industry. Santosh Kumar’s contribution to cinema was celebrated
throughout his life, and he remained a beloved figure until his passing on June
11, 1982, in Lahore. His legacy continues to inspire and resonate within the
